Framed in their historical context and current political circumstances, Music of Resistance focus’ on peoples for whom music is a force for radical political change.
The stories come from Nigeria, Mozambique, Brazil, East London, Cape Verde and the desert of the Southern Sahara – all places where people struggle to survive.
Filmed in some of world’s poorest and most troubled areas, the series is presented by London-based musician and grass roots campaigner Steve Chandra, renowned guitarist and driving force behind Asian Dub Foundation, whose story is examined in the first episode.
